Community Guidelines

Pear is about bringing individuals together and allowing them to freely express who they are to make new and interesting friends. Here at Pear, we strive towards fostering and maintaining a positive and safe community that everybody can enjoy and be a part of. That's why we've prepared the following guidelines for you to follow:

BE YOURSELF

Pear connects you to people similar to you so please don't try to be someone you are not. Use your real name, age, hometown and education and create photo/video moments that reflect you and your personality. It's only when you can be yourself, that you will you be able to meet people interesting to you and make more quality connections.

However, sometimes being yourself can be difficult, if you or someone you notice is suffering from depression, anxiety or suicidal thoughts, seek help by contacting the CRISIS hotline by texting 'HELLO' to 741741. Take care of your mental health, never be afraid to ask someone for help. You are worth more than you think.

RESPECT OTHERS

Treat others how you would like others to treat you. Pear brings together a broad variety of people from all types of backgrounds so please respect each other's differences. We have zero tolerance towards harassment, bullying or hate speech based on race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, religious affiliation or disabilities. Any user who is evidently found making threats to others will be banned immediately.

NO INAPPROPRIATE CONTENT

Don't upload content that contains nudity, sexually explicit or pornographic material.
Don't share sexually suggestive content involving minors or intimate images of others.
Any content considered spam, self-promotion and terrorism will lead to a permanent ban.

NO ILLEGAL ACTIVITY

Don't use Pear to do anything illegal such as soliciting drugs, weapons or sexual services. We have zero tolerance when it comes to sharing sexual content involving minors or posting intimate images of others.

NO INVASIVE RECORDING

To create a safe place for people to express who they are, all media content will disappear after a short period of time so users can focus on expressing who they are without the concern of what they share and who sees it. It's important to respect each other's privacy so please refrain from taking screenshots or recording others in the app. Anyone caught capturing or sharing content from another user in the app without permission, will be removed from the service.

HELP THE COMMUNITY

Help keep the community a safe place by reporting people who violate these guidelines. Reporting is a crucial feature that helps us identify the issue and inform our moderators what the best course of action is. By reporting, along with our content moderation system, an abusive user can be temporarily suspended and prevented from using the service. Help the community deter bad behaviour and deter abusive users, don't keep quiet and we'll be sure to handle the rest.
